Department of Physiology & Biochemistry

The Department of Physiology and Biochemistry, besides providing theoretical and practical training in the subject of Physiology, is also educating students according to the BHMS  curriculum of the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and guidelines of the NCH (National Council for Homoeopathy).

Faculty members assist students in enriching their knowledge through regular interactive tutorials. PowerPoint presentations of the Physiology and Biochemistry courses are designed to help students understand the subject thoroughly. The course details are also presented through video, providing a clear perspective on each physiological process. Regular assessments and tutorials are conducted to prepare the students for their BHMS examinations. 

Departmental teachers are guiding interns in project work and case recording. The departmental members regularly provide services in the OPD and admit patients to the IPD. They also perform various additional responsibilities.

The Department of Physiology and Biochemistry is located on the fourth floor of the new Academic-Cum-Library building. It houses Physiology practical laboratory, Biochemistry practical laboratory, departmental library, demonstration room, a museum, HOD's room, and rooms for faculty members. The laboratories are equipped with modern furniture and advanced infrastructure. The departmental library has an ample collection of books for daily teaching as well as reference work.

To promote educational interests for teachers, students, and visitors, the department has more than 40 different display charts, various CDs, animation software, several books in PDF format, microscopes and specimen of animals.
