This department is associated with postgraduate training in Homoeopathic Philosophy [MD (Homoeopathy)] and undergraduate education in Organon of Medicine [BHMS]. It is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. The curriculum follows the guidelines of the Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH) and the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. The intake capacity for admission to MD (Hom) is twelve (12) seats per academic session.
The department trains the undergraduate students through theory and clinical classes with the use of audio visual aids. Besides these the interns perform their assignments under guidance of the faculties and also participate in case discussions during their internship in the department.
The post graduate trainees get the opportunity of patient care, clinical experience and hands on training in the Outdoor Patients’ Department (OPD) and in the Indoor Patients’ department (IPD). They have to prepare assignments and perform regular seminars in the department. They also perform case presentation and discussion in journal club under guidance of the departmental teachers.
The post graduate trainees have to present a certain number of seminars for all the faculties. They are also involved in teaching undergraduate students under the guidance of faculties which enables them to get teaching experience during course.
The Organon of Medicine and Chronic Diseases in Homeopathy are the main areas of focus for the department. Besides actively participating in various regular activities, the department assists in enhancing the academic standards of the institute. Faculty members of the department regularly participate in national and international seminars, present papers and publish articles in addition to their regular academic duties of teaching and patient care.
